What is the vacuum casting?
One manufacturing process used to create highly detailed and dimensionally accurate prototypes and small-scale production parts
How to build vacuum casting parts?
- Step 1: Master Model Creation – Using 3D printing/CNC machining to make master model.
- Step 2: Mold Preparation – Once the master model is ready, the mold preparation process begins.
- Step 3: Fundição a Vácuo – The mixed material is poured into the mold under vacuum conditions. After the material fills the mold, it is cured to harden. Please note ensure material distribution and eliminating trapped air, and controll temperature and time
- Step 4: Final Processing – Remove cast part from the mold.
Key future of vacuum casting:
- Precision – tolerance: 100mm/±0.20mm
- Low-cost tooling – Unlike injection molding, vacuum casting uses silicone molds. Silicone molds are cheaper and faster to produce, which significantly lowers the initial investment. This makes vacuum casting ideal for projects with tight budgets or shorter production runs.
- Material Versatility – Common material: similar ABS, PC, POM, PP, Rubber, Silicone, etc.
- Fast Turnaround – Silicone molds can be created within days, and each casting cycle is relatively fast.
Vacuum Casting Overmold
Overmolding is a multi-step Vacuum Casting process where two or more components are molded over top of one another, it is a two-step process. VOK provides different kinds of Vacuum Casting Overmold, such as rigid and rubber plastic overmold, metal and rigid plastic overmold, metal and rubber plastic overmold, and inserts overmold.
